Who Am I?

Yippie! My first blog post was a success! I guess now it is time to tell you a little bit about who I am. I am pretty tired, so I will keep it short and just give you the basics.

I am an old lady. No, really I am! I am I will turn 86 in December. Many of my closest friends have died and I am surprised I am still around, but here I am. I don't feel old at all. I am very fortunate that I don't have many health problems. My hips are a bit arthritic, but other than that I am fine. My theory is that companionship, love, and curiosity are as essential to good health as proper diet and exercise.

I am a small town girl from Missouri who moved to Chicago when I was 17 to attend the University of Chicago. I studied English and after college obtained a job in a publishing firm, Charles H. Kerr & Company, as an editorial assistant. I loved books, but had no love of editing, so I quit and returned to the University of Chicago to obtain a degree to become a librarian. I have lived in Chicago ever since working various jobs and volunteering my time with various political groups.

As I said before, I am tired, so that is all for now. Tune in next time to learn more about Emma Dinglewits.
